MY TWIN IS ALMOST HOME!!!

Today is June 20th & I will see my long-lost-twin-sister for the first time since January 8th! It is weird because it seems like a really long time ago, but also kind of just seems like yesterday!

This has been the longest we've been apart our whole life & after being glued to each others hips for 21 years we finally were doing life on our own, separately from each other. having separate adventures, meeting people as Lindsay or Courtney not as "twins", & we survived & it was good!! God yet again awe's me by His perfect timing with her & I experiencing life on our own for this past season of our lives, becoming individuals, not just twins, not always having someone to come with us, wait with us, a security blanket always at hand!

I'm stoked to see her. Excited to tell her random things that aren't really that funny, but she listens to anyway, hear her long stories, hear the great things God has done in her heart & life in the last few months, stay up late with her, talk in code, get to know her again, just spend time with her!!

I'm praying, praying, & praying some more that adjusting to being "twins" again goes smoothly & we pick up right where we left off!

This is a rich life I live.. thank God for a weekend full of people that make me smile, cool-summer nights, family, & a lot of veggin'!

Here's to a good start of a long next two months of watching babies everyday, being a twin again, & trying to have a little bit of free time!!

au revoir twin..

I don't know if people understand the closeness I share with my twin sister.. we're kind of like a married couple. When I talk to other people I use "we" or "us" a lot. I'm not used to talking to someone & saying "I" or "me". But low & behold, the day has come! We are entering a new season of OUR lives: separation.The longest we've been apart is probably a week? And that was with texting, calling, & facebook! So.. the million dollar question I've been hearing a lot lately is how I'm going to cope without the twin for SIX months.
It really hasn't hit me & probably won't either until tomorrow when we leave the airport or probably Sunday night going to Lighthouse by myself, or sometime next week when I finally realize "oh I have my own car now, I don't have to go pick the twin up from work" or "sweet, I have no one to complain about my mom to!!" :) Either way.. I think {key word: think} I'm ready for it, but we'll see!!
It's kind of exciting too though because we're going to be living six months without each other, being our own person, no longer identifying to new people we meet as "twins" but Courtney or Lindsay. For the first time in both our lives we're going to be experiencing new things without each other as a side kick, support, or security blanket.
All I know is God has paved the way for Courtney's journey from dreaming to it actually being time to start this new adventure! She has done a lot of hard work to get to this point & I know she's been faithful to God calling her to this ministry in the land down under!
So instead of worrying about me & how I'm going to be without her here at home, pray for her safety, for her team she'll be living & working with for the next six months, for funds that still need to be raised, & for Courtney to just be another tool for increasing the Kingdom!

hope{s}...

Why does God let us get our hopes up then He doesn’t cater to whatever it is we had hoped for? Is He trying to makes us feel frustrated or hopeless?

{HE will never leave us or forsake us..}

Just because He doesn’t deliver {what it is we had hoped for} doesn’t mean He’s giving up or neglecting what we need. He’s God. He knows what is best for us. He’s preparing our lives according to the plans He already has written for us.

It’s just not His timing.
Not His plan.
He has a different direction to take us in.
He has something new for us to discover.
He wants me to rely on Him more.
He wants me to be content with the wait-and-see*.
He doesn’t want my hope in anything else but Him.
He wants to bring me closer to Him.
He wants to bring me to my knees.
It’s working. He’s working.
I like it.

{*side note: one of my favorite movie quotes (from Elizabethtown of course..) is “It was sort of a wait-and-see… then I waited & I saw” }

craving some fall...

Fall, is my favorite season, I love spring, summer, & winter (sometimes) but fall, is my all time fave. I think the mid-west does fall best & I think growing up with Michigan falls {cider mills, apple orchards, pumpkin patches, pretty leaves..} is why I like it. Although fall technically isn't until September 22nd, I feel like it starts once Labor Day comes around & school starts. I already started school & it's Labor Day weekend, so bring on fall!

{I love my summer, warm weather, (some) time off, being tan, going to the beach, sun dresses, but I'm ready for the cooler weather.}

Today was the almost perfect Saturday. I slept in a little, I bummed around Arts, Beats, & Eats with my sisters for a while, had my first pumpkin spice latte from the bucks, I wore my favorite sweater & wasn't too hot, I played my guitar for a little while to some Band of Horses songs {good fall music if you're looking for something to get into fall mode.} (which are pretty easy to strum & sing to, which makes me happy!), went on a bike ride date with my youngest brother to get ice cream, bought a new dress & tunic from Lost & Found which can be worn during fall with boots, & gathered some of my favorite things about fall...

1.) apple orchards
{my family for every year since I can remember has gone to Erwin's Apple Orchard to pick apples & pumpkins.. always a good time, always a good memory.}
2.) crunchy leaves
{sometimes I go out of my way to step on crunchy leaves.. and although I have bad memories of having to help my dad rack our mammoth backyard growing up, I still love crunchy leaves on the ground.}
3.) pumpkin spice latte's
{only enjoyable on a fall-esque day, nice & hot.}

4.) scarves
{thick knit scarves, or light weight lose fitting scarves, always my favorite.}

5.) earth tones
{I think I like earth tones all year round, but they are more fun during the fall to wear & fit in with the colors outside, I've been to a few fall weddings & think earth tones are ideal for weddings.}

6.) school supplies
{perhaps this is why I want to be a teacher...}

7.) boots
{not thick winter boots or rain boots, cute ankle-knee high boots, with a pair of skinny jeans or a dress.}

8.) cider mills
{doughnuts & hot cider.}

9.) franklin, tn
{fall time in the south is a little warmer & seems to go into at least December, but not just Franklin but the surrounding areas are pretty great to drive through when the leaves are changing colors.}

10.) bon fires
{a way to actually keep warm unlike bon fires during the summer..}

*happy {early} fall

I left a part of me in Detroit..

I don't know the total count of students & leaders that we had on this trip but I would say roughly 120 all together slept, lived, ate, worked, & worshiped together for a week at the Warren campus & in four different locations around downtown Detroit doing various projects, VBS, day camps, block parties, yard work, painting, garbage picking, relationship building, & anything else under the sun that we could find to do to spread the love and we called it: CitiWeek.
The whole week in general was beyond my expectations. To be honest I went into the whole trip kind of nervous & feeling very unprepared. I think because I wasn't going more than 30 minutes from home I let my procrastination & laziness get to me the week/end before the trip get to me & I waited until the very last minute to do everything. I also felt like I was going into it not knowing any of the students in my group! The week before we left I was switched form one group to another, but God showed me again & again all week how He makes every little detail work out, even if it's not how we intended it to! It was sweet to get to know a whole slew of high schoolers who I didn't know or know very well when the week started! {Faygo for life.}{THIS is just how I organize my thoughts by day, so it's kind of long.. :)}

{Day One} Youth for Christ & Heidelberg...
We traveled into the city of Detroit and made our way to Youth for Christ to do some work projects. Despite the outrageous humidity our group worked SO hard sweaty & hot all day & did so great getting so much done on just the first day. We worked for a few hours in the morning organizing things inside the YfC building, doing yard work outside, & pulling debris out of a huge mass from an ancient garage that had collapsed in on itself, then we headed to Heidleberg for a break/lunch.
{My sister Brittany met up with us there, and we found it interesting that every time we go there it is always kind of gloomy & cloudy outside...}
Post lunch we worked more on getting rid of the mass of rotted wood, a few walls, glass, other random treasures that we found amongst the rumble. It was a hot & sweaty day for sure but the little drops of rain in the afternoon helped cool things off & being able to take a shower before dinner wasn't bad either! We had a sweet time of worship at the church that night & got to share about our first day in the city, it was a good way to end the first day of work!

{Day Two} The day that I think brought the most JOY to my heart..
We started the morning off a little later than the others & went over to the train station to explore, talk about Nehemiah & eat some lunch before we went over to Open Door Rescue Mission. I had always heard good things about Open Door so I was excited to go serve there but didn't really know what to expect. They gave us a little tour & history of the mission, and we helped get things ready for the Forgotten Harvest truck to arrive.

{A woman who volunteers a lot of her time at ODRM is a member at the Warren campus & suggested to Matt that we have the students mingle with the people waiting outside to get in & take down prayer requests & pray with them. Honestly I was expecting the worst, that we would have to force our team to go for it... but I was definitely expecting the wrong thing because even though it may have been totally out of their comfort zone, they ALL went for it! And eagerly met and prayed with so many of the people waiting outside, it was awesome! It was just the beginning of joy that started to fill me up while we were there!}

Then it all happened quickly that we had to jump into action & get organized to start serving, so it was for sure all hands on deck & once again I just had to smile to myself seeing how hard everyone on our team worked! Everyone was doing this or that helping to get things ready to roll! Once everything was ready & sorted a line of people started to form to start coming through the line of tables filled with all sorts of food. We had some of us standing behind the tables explaining how much of what was to be taken and kind of directing traffic, some of the students were handing out bagels on the way out, some students were playing some music, & it was just a sight to see.
Another aspect of the joy that I felt during this afternoon was that my dad, older sister, & youngest brother were all there with me! At some points I felt like I was going to start chocking up & fighting back tears because of how I blessed I felt to have the chance to serve less fortunate people with my family around me helping too. Not every 10 year old joyfully helps serve the people of Detroit everyday.

All in all the whole scene just made me smile.

Later that night we all headed back into the city after dinner to hand out free water & pop around Comerica Park before the Tigers game & then had a good time hanging out at the game, even thought the Tigs lost..

...and we all had these "Hope for Detroit" shirts on.. some people at the game agreed with our shirts, some didn't. It makes me sad that people that live in the city don't even believe there is hope for their city. That's why we have to take baby steps to spread the hope for a broken city.

{Day Three}

We headed back to YFC to finish moving all the debris from the old garage into a dumpster & finish clearing the area. Since the team we had was amazing & the hardest workers from the whole trip we got that done pretty quickly & again had nothing but sweat & dirt dripping off our bodies & dirt under out nails when we were done.
Then we had lunch on Belle Isle & used the afternoon to explore & see a new part of the city for a lot of our team which was kind of cool. We just ate & relaxed for a while looking over at the city..
That night we got to go visit Brittany's Palace over on Second & have dinner & hang out with each other for a few hours for dinner!
It included fajitas, eating outside, enjoying each others company, & a large game of tag.

Then we all went over to Metro Church where one of the other CItiWeek groups was working all week for a Wednesday night church service. It was cool to see what the other group had been doing all week with a block party earlier that day & getting to sing crazy songs & meet some cute kids! It was fun to hear my brother talk about Nehemiah in front of everyone too. Love that kid. Love seeing him serve other people too.

The crazy night ended with a couple trips to Meijer, McDonalds, & Speedway & most of the group being awake until 3AM. (It has to happen on a missions trip...)

{Day Four}
Our group went on a tour of the Renaissance Center downtown in the morning. I've never been inside before but am always intrigued by the building when I'm downtown! So it was cool to see this city inside a city but a little weird to feel like a tourist only 30 minutes from my house. It was fun though & cool to see the city from the sky.

We stayed there for most of the morning & then headed to YFC to put the finishing touches on the work we had been doing. All while clearing out weeds, cement blocks, bricks, & some old lawn mowers from a side yard, & getting some minor cuts & scraps we left that place looking pretty great & clean.
It was sad in a way to me that our group really only worked with other people once during the week & were just by ourselves the rest of the time working at YfC and that we didn't really get to form any relationships with new people in the city, but I just had to keep reminding myself that even if we couldn't physically see the outcome of our labor now, that the work we did at YFC is just a step closer to helping them progress in their ministry!

{STORY: A way that God totally was protecting us while we were downtown was that on Tuesday while we were at Open Door, and not at YFC some of the people from YFC & two of their students that come there were jumped two blocks from the YFC building where we had been working... it's crazy that we just happened to be at Open Door that day. God was for sure watching over us while we were down there & thankfully none of the people involved were hurt or anything, AND the dirt bikes that they had been using that were stolen were found & returned by the end of the week!}

So that was what my few days in the city looked like.. we spent the last day of our trip at a conference center in Ohio with worship time, some down time, & a night of reflecting on the week & sharing highlights & lows of our week. And topped it off with feet washing. The whole idea of feet washing makes me feel blessed to be a part of such a sweet ministry to high school students. I had the opportunity to wash the feet of the sweet girls in my group after a long week or working hard & being sweaty & dirty & pray over them & speak truth into them. It made me feel so blessed to have that opportunity to share that with them. It was humbling for sure.
On Friday morning we had some more debriefing time & then had an hour solo-time to journal, read Isaiah 58, & just reflect on the past few days. And we ended it all with singing God of the City & Our God..

All in all it felt like the longest week of my life, but left me speechless at so many points. I feel blessed to be a part of a ministry that has so many awesome students wiling to give up their week at the end of a long busy summer to go on a half hour from home & get their hands dirty spreading the hope for Detroit.

The words I kept writing down in my journal were BLESSED & HONORED. That's all I have.
. . . . .

{I took a majority of the pictures but borrowed some from my mum & some of the awesome people on my team!}

Detroit.

...I have to brag about a trip I took downtown sometime. It kind of blew my mind & left me speechless, so it might take a while to put into words. Soon. Soon. Soon, I will share the goodness though, until then prayers of hope for the city of Detroit are more than welcome.

{Then I gave them my report: "Face it: we're in a bad way here. DETROIT is a wreck; its gates are burned up. Come—let's build the wall of DETROIT and not live with this disgrace any longer." I told them how God was supporting me and how the king was backing me up. They said, "We're with you. Let's get started." They rolled up their sleeves, ready for the good work.}

new a d v e n t u r e...

In the next couple weeks (not 100% on the date.), my twin & I are embarking on a new adventure!

We're packing up the last twenty years of our lives & moving out of our parents casa!

It is weird/crazy how everything has fallen into place, but I know that is just God showing me yet again, that that is how He works. Even if I don't know what He is up to right away, in His time He'll reveal what He wants, when He wants for my life!

After a totally random Facebook message in about three weeks times it was confirmed that the twin & I would have a place of our own come February!

Our space that we are now the proud renters of, is not glamorous or fancy by any means, but its only a few blocks from downtown, and it is all we were looking for, and it is two of my favorite words: cozy & CHEAP!

As excited as I am about starting a new adventure, I was kind of thinking about it the other night and just everything attached to it and got a little overwhelmed, but had to remember that everything really does work out SOMEHOW! Maybe not always in the way we wanted it to, but God definitely lets things come together from either the big things or the small things!

I heard this week that a lot of the time people around us (loved ones some of the time) or the Evil one try and whisper in our ears things like "Slow down!" "Don't do it!" "You're not ready!" and that is definitely kind of how I felt at the beginning of all of this. "I'm not ready to move out of my parents house." "I am comfortable where I am at." "I don't think I can handle the responsibility."

But then God whispers in our ears, "You're ready!" "This is the time!" "Don't stop now, I have more for you discover along the way!" And that, is how I feel now. I know that God wouldn't have made things work out so well up until now, I (we) would be a fool to let this slip away from me (us).

[GOD, I just hope + pray that I will continue to trust in YOU and the plan YOU have marked out for me. Even if whatever door comes opens next isn't THIS clear at first, that I'll still be faithful to listen for what You have for me next.]

*across the border, taste of summer, rain, & everything in between...

across the border: "let's go to canada, let's leave today..."
last week was my "spring break" although the weather seems rather far from "spring".  for a few days courtney, emily, & i went over to canada to rest, relax, & not have any plans.  it was just that.  and i loved it.  it was honestly what i needed to catch my breath. we stayed at
em's grandmas house. she is an amazing lady. i think every grandma should be like her. she has gone thru a lot in the past month or so and still rejoices in how good, great, & gracious our God is.

taste of summer: "and we frolicked about in our summer skin..."
this past friday i hear
d it reached at least 71° in some areas around town.  it was so great to be able to go outside with no jacket, coat, sweater, sweatshirt. in my exci
tement for the warm weather i wore flip flops to my brothers swim meet...*dear summer weather, please come soon. thanks, lindsay.

rain: "You give me peace to be still, in the middle of the storm..."
it has been hazy, gray, gloomy, foggy, and rainy for a few days now...i tend to enjoy a good thunder storm, heavy downpour, or light drizzle, but not when i have to be out in it running all over creation to get some things done. although i would rather be wrapped in a blanket, in the corner of the couch, taking a nap, reading, or watching a good movie, while i have been driving in these downpours these lyrics from christa black are stuck in my head.  even if our life is like a storm, rainy, windy, or hazy, God still can bring us a peace that we cannot explain and we can find comfort in Him in the middle of the chaos.

everything in between: "from the east to the west any height any depth, thats where it goes..."
over the next week i will spend most of  my time in a car.  currently i am dog/house sitting for some family friends that live roughly fifteen miles south west of my house, i go to school about eight miles north west of my house, and spend a lot of time near my church which is about fifteen miles north west of my house.... and somewhere in between all that i do have to take care of a dog, and i am not even a dog person to be completely honest. go to school, study, and do homework. and do a million other things.  its hectic. its exhausting. and by the end of this week i am going to hate driving....

*hey 2 0 0 9!

Well it has been two-thousand-and-nine for a week now, and I've been thinking a lot since. I've been trying to simplify where I was this time last year and think about changes or differences that have taken place since this time last year.

In January of 2008, I was just under six months away from graduating from high school, I worked, a lot, I was at church a lot, I had a car, I lived in a different house. Reading in my personal journal from this time last year, I had just accepted the idea that I would most likely be staying home for college, I wanted to be a business major or a psychology major, I was deciding if I wanted to go to Camp Barnabas or West Virginia with WSM, and my top three goals for the year were the same as they always and still are.

1. Get to really know God more, fall more & more in love with Him
2. Take better care of my diabetes
3. Be more healthy all in all.

*For the first goal, I think that I did pretty good with really getting to know my Jesus more and really fell in love with Him during the year. Until about September-ish of 2008, I felt like I was at a stand still in my relationship with my Jesus, and I really do not know why. I definitely have come out of that season with Him though! Which I am so thankful for. With a combo or Lighthouse, being involved with Kairos, being a leader for WSM this year, and just all around digging deeper into God's word and relying more and more on Him, I have just found comfort, joy, peace, and satisfaction with my Father, my Creator, my God. And just that, makes me smile.

*My second goal for 2008, I am still trying to do in 2009. I have come to the conclusion that since I have had diabetes for almost eleven years now, that I have become what I call a "lazy diabetic". I have found ways to become lazy with taking care of my diabetes. And since I take care of it on my own and do not really have someone telling me when to check my blood sugar or when to take my shot, I just kind of do my own thing. That has to stop. This year. For good. I guess it just really hit me since the fall time that as a result of me not taking the best care of my diabetes as I can, that I am hurting myself for the long run. The effects of constant high blood sugar is anywhere from major kidney problems, eye problems and in some cases blindness, bad circulation to my feet, and a slew of other things, and I would love to have a family of my own someday and if I don't take care of myself now, then how will I except to have my own kids, if I have problems like that. So it was definitely a wake up call for me this last fall, and it is not the most fun thing to do, but I do have a chronic illness, that is manageable, so its up to me to manage it.

*This last one, I would say I did alright with. All I do pretty much to keep myself healthy is run and attempt to eat healthy, but typically the running is the only thing that stays consistent. Not saying that I ran near as much as I could have during this past year, I did go running more than I thought I would. I enjoy it, I enjoy how I feel when I run, and I do love the feeling I get after I run. If only I could make myself get out there and do it more, then I'd be doing good. So we'll also be working on that again this year :)

*Since January 2008, I indeed did graduate from High School!! I went to West Virginia with WSM for a week to serve the people down there. My car and my phone died in 2008. I finally got a MacBook in 2008, and a new iPod, but lost the iPod...sad day. I technically "graduated" from WSM, but I have had the opportunity to continue to work as a co-leader for a fabulous group of junior girls, I love it! And I am pretty sure I do not want to be a business major anymore, which is still shocking to me, because that was something I wanted to do, to work in the music business scene and whatnot, but now I am 99% sure I am going into early elementary education, and possibly getting a child psychology type degree as well!

Pretty much, those are still my top three things I would like to develop and pursue more in this next new year. I want to continue to see God in everything, continue to pursue Him, continue to be in His word, and continue to seek Him everyday. I also just want to continue to let God open doors for me, show me where He wants me to go, and do. Conquer this disease called Juvinille Diabestes, and run more :). And I want to LOVE people more. Be there for people who need me. Be a better daughter, sister, and friend to the people in my life. And I want to just all around look more like Christ....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, enough of the new year. Check out this passage from Lighthouse on Sunday....

PSAML 37:3-4
"TRUST THE LORD AND DO GOOD; DWELL IN THE LAND AND ENJOY SAFE PASTURE.
DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE LORD AND HE WILL GIVE YOU THE DESIRES OF YOUR HEART."

mmm, I just love the comfort from these two verses. Although so many times I think "God, I am trusting in You and doing good, I am not getting the desires of my heart". I have learned a lot since the summer that God's timing is all that matters, not mine. God will bless me in His own time, as long as I am trusting in Him, and seeking Him always, then He indeed will give me the desires of my heart, in His own time. And I love that.

Also I do love music, worship music especially. And at Lighthouse on Sunday we sang a song called "Your Love Never Fails", by a group called Jesus Culture, its a conference I guess, I do not know that much about it (but it totally just came on & it made me very excited). The words in the song are crazy. Here are the lyrics, I think that the bridge at the end is my favorite line of the whole song. YOU MAKE ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR MY GOOD. How amazing is a God that wants the BEST for ME!?

"Nothing can separate
Even if I ran away
Your love never fails

I know I still make mistakes, but
You have new mercy for me everyday
Your love never fails

You stay the same through the ages
Your love never changes
There may be pain in the night
But joy comes in the morning
And when the oceans rage
I don’t have to be afraid
Because I know that you love me
And your love never fails

The wind is strong and the water’s deep, but
I’m not alone here in these open seas
Cause your love never fails

The chasm was far too wide
I never thought I’d reach the other side
But your love never fails

You make all things, work together for my good"

*the rest of the album is equally great. You should check it out.

*so where i called home for nine weeks this summer, is going to be demolished next week, the lake ann hotel [which is actually farrrrrrr from a hotel], the last resort!
*its a bitter sweet thing for the lake ann family because although it is really old, anddisfunctional....we still had dance parties in the halls, a broken stair rail, wrap ups in the living room area, bathroom clean ups, the porch, thescary door from upstairs, watching senior high campers go to the lake after fight night on the porch, sneaking into the attic, writing on the walls, tiny bedrooms, sandy floors, home to the girls support staff this summer...its ok. they`ll probably build something spectacular in its place!

*new york, new york...

Midtown Manhattan, New York was home for me and 23 other kids & leaders from my church last week. We had sessions in the mornings from speakers New York Gospel Outreach. They were ok, but I think I personally got more out of going to the different ministry sites & hearing stories from other kids about their experiences around New York City.

So here is how the week went down...

Saturday: We left Woodside at 5:15ish AM, stopped a few times, and arrived in the Big Apple around 7PM. We had a session right when we got to the hotel, afterward we (as a task force a.k.a. Woodside) went and walked around New Yorks Times Square. All we could say (those of us who had never been to NYC before) was that is was surreal, why? Because it was exactly like it was on TV and in movies, a lot of people, loud, bad driving & traffic. But it was still exciting to be in a new place and to know what the following days would hold. So after lingering around Times Square & standing outside of Sports New York and attempting to be on TV we stopped by World of Nuts for ice cream. Then we headed back to the hotel for some much needed sleep.

Sunday: Morning Session with music & speaker. Lunch on the way (street vendor gyroscan be delicious yet very messy & hard to eat while walking) we met up with all of our Woodsiders and headed to our first trip on the New York Subway system. I had never ridden on one before, so it was nerve racking at the beginning, but I got used to them & the heat that is insane underground in the subways! We went to as Alex would say a Hobo Park an area near Madison Square Garden and handed out care packages and talked to some of the homeless people around. Then we walked around that area and then headed for the Brooklyn Tabernacle! So we went to an afternoon service at the Brooklyn Tab and it was amazing how alive & joyful everyone there was during the music & the message. It was really encouraging and later we talked about why our church is not like that. After that we headed back to the Times Square area and had some dinner and then went to another session. Following this, we had a time where we all got to talk about our day & share with each other things we were looking forward to for the week to come & what we had experienced that day. And finally we headed to bed, way too late!

Monday: Our day to SLEEP IN! Not, we woke up around 6AM to head out to the CBS Early Show. It was not all it was cracked out to be, trust me. But it was fun people from church actually saw us on TV and whatnot so that was cool. But right next to where we were, was the Apple Store. This was a good time, listening to iPods, checking mail, and messing around with Photo Both. Morning Session stufflunch in Central Park. This was our first day out on the town on our ministry sites. We took the subway to the Staten Island Ferry. We rode this back and forth for the afternoon and Megan, Brittany and I talked to some cool people, heard about people and just listened to what people had to say for the afternoon. It was one of my favorite parts of the trip. Then we all met and talked about our time on the Ferry.

For dinner, Mr. & Mrs. Gillesby, Sean, Alex, David, Brittany, Megan, and I went to TGI Fridays. It was fun talking to a totally random group of people after we met up with everyone else for the evening session.

Tuesday: Session, Lunch, Prospect Park. When we first got there we did not see very many people, but then we split up and went to different areas, and we found this cool park with a lot of kids and moms. So I got to talk to this sweet lady who was there with her daughter and she encouraged me, but I think she enjoyed talking because she had a lot to say & it was nice. There were many stories from this time from others as well it was a good time. Stopped for some food and headed to the Brooklyn Tabernacle for the Tuesday Night Prayer Meeting. This was a cool time of worship & prayer. Then we headed back to where we were staying went to TGI Fridays and got dessert then went back and headed for bed.

Wednesday: Session, Lunch, lower east side projects. This was an area I was the most nervous about. It was kind of discouraging at the beginning because we were not seeing as many people as we thought we would, but we ended up talking to some nannies and these really cute kids they were watching. And some of the guys got to play basketball with some guys and share Gods word with them at the end. On our way out we stopped by Dunkin Donuts and got something to snack on. Hopped on the subway and walked back to the hotel in the rain! Then after being all wet and gross we had some time to get all dolled up to go out to eat in Little Italy. This was fun all the girls were all dressed and we got to eat at a nice restaurant and then we walked around and looked at some of the places there, but then it started raining, so we headed back. Then we got together as a group and talked about our week so far, and Jerry informed us that he was heading home early to be with Bekah.

Thursday: Session, Lunch, Bronx. We took the subway for about 30 minutes all the way to the Bronx. We went to this park and walked around and chatted with some people. It was cool to see the guys hang out with a group of other guys and talk to them at the end of a soccer game about God and why they were in New York. Then we all got back on the subway and the guys went and hung out and then all the girls hung out in SOHO. It was OK, I mean not really my kind of thing, but we went a cute store called Lailia Rowe it had some good deals. Then we grabbed dinner on the run and headed to our last session. This was a long session with two speakers and a lot of music. It was OK. Then we headed to our rooms to pack and go to sleep!

Friday: Up early, waited for buses left NYC around 8:30ish. Traffic in Pennsylvania. Stopped one too many times, and arrived at Woodside about 9:45. Long day, long week, glad to be home.
